You Need to Go Lower

"You need to go lower." My daughter said those words to me when I was attempting to do push-ups.

I need to go lower? This brought to mind Simone Weil's words:

Pity goes down to a certain level but not below it. What does charity do in order to descend lower?

Grace is the law of the descending movement.

I need to go lower! Condescension isn't lower—it's still above. Pity descends, but not far enough. Grace falls all the way down.
